The Elevated Roots Project
(in partnership with Sandalwood Farm & Sanctuary
Elevated Roots goes beyond programming, it invests in youth as emerging leaders, strengthens community resilience, and contributes to long-term efforts advancing racial, social, and economic equity through community support.
Elevated Roots creates a space where young people can slow down, reconnect, and begin to see what they’re capable of. Many of the youth we serve, especially those connected to foster care or facing economic challenges, haven’t always had access to environments that build confidence and belonging.
On the farm, they participate in wellness workshops, art, journaling, shared meals, and hands-on projects that teach both life skills and practical trades. They learn to work with the land, care for something beyond themselves, and complete meaningful projects alongside their peers. In the process, something shifts. Confidence grows, identity strengthens, and young people begin to see themselves as capable, valuable, and connected to a larger purpose.
Elevated Roots is about more than farming, it’s about helping youth, particularly within BIPOC communities, rediscover their voice, their value, and their role in building stronger, more connected communities.
Help Our Mission
Why We Need Our Community
Too many of our young people are aging out of systems with little ground beneath their feet. When basic life skills go untaught, job paths narrow. When steady support is missing, housing becomes uncertain. For youth connected to the foster care system and low-income households, these realities aren’t rare, they’re part of everyday life.We see it, we feel it, and we refuse to look away.
At Serve + Lead Family Agency, we believe real change starts with showing up, season after season. Like tending a farm, our work requires patience, consistency, and care. We stand in the gap by offering space to learn, to grow, and to rebuild confidence alongside community, with dignity and respect for every story.
